They are the two biggest suspension component manufacturers in the world, and have plenty in common.
Not all of your bike is made by the brandname on the tank. Some of it, especially suspension, gets sub-contracted to other companies - usually experts in their field.
Showa and Kayaba (aka KYB) supply the majority of motorcycle manufacturers with their suspension.
