Shock
Shock Service and rebuild
Your motorcycles suspension is made up of a complex system of shims, pistons, seals, adjusters and orifices, often moving at speeds of over 5 metres a second. The oil in your suspension provides not only dampening force but lubrication as well.

The standard oil is only just acceptable and with steel and aluminium working together the inside of the forks and shock quickly produces a fine black compound which suspends itself in the oil, clogging seals , obstructing orifices and bonding shims together. The result is a system of reciprocating parts that merely push and suck oil from one chamber to another with little control over the action of your suspension. If left unattended the system will gradually grind itself away and eventually blow oil all over your rear suspension or front brake.

A major bonus, fortunately, is that if the suspension is not left too long before servicing, then not only will it perform better than new, it will perform better than new once the factory oil (what we like to call flushing oil) has been replaced.

WARNING if your shock or forks lose their oil, or shows any signs of leaking, get it fixed before your next ride. The oil is the only thing that stops the aluminium parts in the suspension grinding themselves away. When a shock loses it's oil there's also nitrogen pressure inside the shock bladder that will remain, forcing the bladder into the sharp threaded section of the shock body at the base of the reservoir and destroy it. Bladders are expensive.

Our rebuild service includes: Check external settings, disassemble forks or shock, inspect and clean all parts, seals, valves, shims, orifices, adjusters, hoses and fittings and polish shafts. (Be careful! Many so called shock services neglect shim disassembly and cleaning which is very important).

We then reassemble and refill the forks of shock with the highest quality Silkolene fully synthetic oil, re-pressurize the shock and pressure test the shock. We give a 3 month warranty on all seals we have replaced.

Parts such as fork seals and shock seals/bump stops are not included. 40-50 hour service interval recommended for competition.
Price: $130.90 (Incl. GST)
